What to Expect
Located just 50 minutes from La Fortuna, the Balsa River offers the perfect setting for a fun, family-friendly whitewater adventure. Get ready to get wet and wild as you paddle through exciting Class II and III rapids such as “Magnetic Rock” and “Dredges,” surrounded by lush tropical scenery.
Midway through your journey, you’ll take a 15-minute break on the riverbank to enjoy fresh tropical fruit while spotting monkeys, toucans, and other exotic wildlife in their natural habitat.
After conquering the rapids, relax on the ride back to La Fortuna and enjoy a traditional Costa Rican lunch at Vida Campesina, a charming country estate that showcases the authentic, peaceful way of rural life. Your meal is prepared on an original wood stove and served in true Costa Rican style—a delicious end to your adventure.
